Yusupov palace
Tour to Yusupov Palace St. Petersburg (Duration 2-2,5 hours)
This tour will begin at the entrance to the Yusupov Palace (Moika embankment, 94).
One of the most mysterious pages of Russian history is connected with the Yusupov Palace. On 17 December 1916 Grigory Rasputin, who had a huge influence on the Royal family, was killed in this mansion. You will see the exposition dedicated to the murder of Rasputin, placed in the "Studio", half of Felix Yusupov where these terrible events took place.
Before the revolution of 1917 the Palace was one of the most luxurious and elegant noble "nest" of the capital. It is unique that the Palace has retained many of its interiors. The "pearl" of the Yusupov Palace is a miniature Home theater, like a precious casket.
The Palace was built in 1770 by architect Valen-de La Mothe for count Shuvalov and was subsequently rebuilt by Mikhailov. The history of the Palace begins from 1830 when it was purchased by a powerful nobleman Nikolai Borisovich Yusupov for his son Boris. The last owner of the palace was Felix Yusupov, who participated in assassination of Raspurin.
